Why Thomas Lemar did not join Liverpool

Thomas Lemar has joined Atletico Madrid a year after being linked with Liverpool. According to the Liverpool Echo, The Reds failed in an attempt to sign Lemar from Monaco last August, after sporting director Michael Edwards held talks with the French side. After an interest from Arsenal, the asking price rocketed and he ended up staying put. And despite Liverpool’s need to replace Phillipe Coutinho, Lemar was not pursued, neither in January nor recently. The Reds cooled their interest in the 22-year-old and the player joined Atletico Madrid.
