The Athletic: Jurgen Klopp asked star to help complete Naby Keita transfer

Liverpool star Sadio Mane had reportedly played an essential role in helping convince Naby Keita to join the Merseyside club. They both are close friends having enjoyed a brief spell together at RB Salzburg. Keita joined the Reds in the summer of 2017, however, stayed at RB Leipzig for an additional season before joining up with his new team-mates for the 2018/19 season. While at Leipzig the midfielder was attracting interest from a host of top European clubs, including: Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Jurgen Klopp's side decided to trigger his £48million release clause while paying an additional premium which took the deal to a total of £53m. And according to The Athletic, it was Sadio Mane who convinced Keita to join the Reds. Klopp knew that Mane and Keita were close and he was keen for his forward to speak the midfielder about life at Anfield. The pair have remained close ever since, with Keita often spending downtime with his fellow African on Merseyside. Source- Daily and Sunday Express
