The £72.9m windfall to help Chelsea complete Kai Havertz transfer

Chelsea can now turn their full attention for preparations ahead of next season after going out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage. Although the competition ended disappointingly for Chelsea, it has still bought some benefits for the Blues, especially with the transfer window now open. Lampard has already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. And now transfer chief Marina Granovskaia is working hard to complete more deals, including bringing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz to the club. As reported by football.london , the Blues are in talks with the German side over a possible transfer for the player. One stumbling block to a transfer could be the fee. The Bundesliga club said to be looking for a fee in the region of £90m. According to Swiss Ramble , Chelsea have earned €81 million (£72.9m) from their participation in the competition this season, with the money from the participation fee, prize money, UEFA coefficient money and the TV pool. The money will be significantly more than the club earned from their participation in the Europa League last season. The extra income may just have a positive impact on the club’s pursuit of their transfer targets, including Kai Havertz. Source: Football.london
