The surprise player Raheem Sterling idolized as a youngster

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling was inspired with the game of Queens Park Rangers forward Adel Taarabt in his young years in the QPR academy. Even when Sterling moved to Liverpool, he seemed to get his inspiration from the Moroccan to move on. Taarabt told FourFourTwo:"Raheem Sterling texted me a few months ago. I was listening to an interview where he said I was his idol at QPR. These days it would be Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, but when he was a kid he watched me!" Sterling, during his interview in Uefa 2017 confessed his admiration towards Taarabt but listed three other modern-day greats as well. "When I was at Queens Park Rangers I loved Adel Taarabt a lot. It was natural, it's the kind of players I like. But the real idols were obviously [Cristiano] Ronaldo and Messi. Ronaldinho is my favorite player. When he played, it was like playing with children," he said.
