Son Heung-Min joins the Marine Corps of South Korea to complete 3 weeks of Military Training

Tottenham Hostpur star Son Heung-min has returned to South Korea in order to complete in mandatory military training, according to Korean website JoongAng Ilbo. The website exclusively reports, the 28-year-old will complete a basic military training based on military service benefits at the Marine Corps. “Son Heung-min returned to Korea on the 28th of last month to take advantage of the period in which the Premier League was suspended to receive basic military training," the source told the website. “We will join the Marine Corps on the 20th for three weeks of military training. Jeju Island is the most prominent in the service area." On March 29, Tottenham announced that Son Heung-Min along with Steven Bergwijn were allowed to return to their home countries. The reason for Bergwijn's departure was childbirth, while for Son it was reported to be "personal reasons". However, it is now clear to be military service. The Marine Corps is rumoured to have high training intensity.  It is also advantageous on a regular basis. In contrast to basic military training for four weeks at the Army Training Center, Marines can end up with three-week training. Jeju Island is the smallest virus-cleaning area among the 18 metropolitan governments nationwide, with 9 COVID-19 total diagnoses as of the 2nd April. The Marine Corps 9th Brigade, founded in 2015 and is allocated in Jeju island. Son was close to being forced to complete two years of military service back in 2018.
