Sokratis Papastathopoulos turned down Manchester United to join Arsenal

Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos rejected a move to Manchester United in favour of Arsenal, according to the defender’s father. Sokratis was about to enjoy his final year at Borussia Dortmund, but decided to make a switch to Arsenal with the club securing a €20 million (£17.5m) deal for the 29-year-old. The Greek international has completed his medical in London and the deal is expected to be completed as soon as on Tuesday. According to the Sokratis’ father, Manchester United were also interested in him, as Jose Murinho contacted the centre-back to discuss a move to Old Trafford. However, Sokratis doesn’t want to join Manchester United and turned down their offer. The deal with Arsenal could be finalized on Tuesday.
