Sheffield United make moves to sign two senior Manchester United players

Sheffield United want to sign Manchester United stars Jesse Lingard and Brandon Williams, according to Football Insider. Chris Wilder is looking to sign an attacking midfield goalscorer and left-back in the January transfer window. Therefore, Sheffield have approached United about potential deals for both Lingard, 28, and Williams, 20, states Football Insider. Manchester United have yet to decide Lingard's future, who is contracted until 2022. Williams, meanwhile, is expected to be given the green light for a loan after slipping down pecking order. Wilder is working to strengthen his squad after Tuesday’s Premier League win over Newcastle United gave hope the bottom club can avoid relegation this season. Lingard started United’s FA Cup win over Watford last Saturday but hasn’t started a Premier League game for over a year. The 24-times England international has played 210 times for United and has weighed in with 33 goals and 20 assists. Williams has made just 42 first-team appearances despite only turning 20 last September. He has played in just six first-team matches in the current campaign.
