According to Sky Sports, Romelu Lukaku tells Everton he will not sign a new contract.
This after repeated assurances from his agent that it was 99.99 per cent he would put pen to paper on a new deal.
Everton were willing to make him their first £100,000-a-week player. He has a little over two years left on his current contract.
It’s understood, Everton have not given up hope of keeping the player beyond the end of his current deal. There are reports the breakdown has been caused by a disagreement about the size of the release clause in the new contract.
Everton will hope this is just an issue that can be resolved, but as it stands the Premier League’s joint top scorer will not be signing a new contract at Everton.
