Roger Federer could set three more records if he beats Nadal and Djokovic at Indian Wells

Roger Federer won his 100th title in Dubai last weekend. Federer became only second man in the Open Era to claim over 100 singles and he is now only nine behind the great Jimmy Connors, who racked up 109 titles in a 24-year-career. Nevertheless, what further records can the 20-time Grand Slam winner break amid a fierce field of competitors including Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic? Most men’s singles titles Federer has already won five titles at Indian Wells, tied with Djokovic. His last win came in 2017, defeating Stan Wawrinka in the final of the hardcourt tournament. Overcoming his Serbian rival would give Federer daylight as the Paribas Open king. Oldest champion The tournament was founded in 1974, and no man has won the singles event at an older age than 35 years and 223 days old. That man was Federer and he can break his own record next weekend by clinching the title. The 37-year-old will be 221 days into his 38th year on the day of the final. Most match wins Federer has won 62 matches at the event, with an impressive 84 per cent win rate. The Swiss coincidentally also holds the record for most matches played (74). If the slick right-hander makes it to the curtain-closer, he will strengthen his record in California.
