Roger Federer ‘bothered’ and ‘displeased’ after Julien Benneteau favouritism claims

Roger Federer is said to be bothered and displeased by Julien Benneteau’s comments about him having a stronghold on men’s tennis, according to Jon Wertheim. Frenchmen Julien Benneteau claimed that tournament referees often give Roger Federer better time slots to play in, especially the Australian Open. “He’s the Australian Open tournament director,” he told RMC Sport. “And the man is paid by Roger Federer’s agent for the Laver Cup. “Over the last two Australian Opens, [Federer] played 14 matches, because he was champion and finalist. And he played 12 or 13 of his 14 matches in the night session.” Benneteau strongly denied having anything personal against the Swiss. But according to Sports Illustrated expert Jon Wertheim, Federer was not happy with Benneteau’s comments. Wertheim says Federer “doesn’t care where or when he plays” and is most displeased by Benneteau’s comments becoming a story. In case you missed, retired Benneteau was beaten by Federer six times.
