Mesut Ozil signed a contract extension this time last season, which will keep him at Arsenal until 2021.
The Gunners were so desperate to keep hold of Ozil that they agreed to make him the best paid player in Arsenal's history by paying him £350,000-a-week.
Many expected Ozil to play an important part of Unai Emery's Arsenal but the German has struggled for regular game time during this season, and doesn't appear to be a major part of Emery's plans.
According to
Mirror, since Ozil has signed a new deal with Arsenal, he has cost the north London club a staggering £18.2million in wages.
This is around half the amount Emery will be handed to spend on new recruits in the summer, unless he finds a way of moving on the German.
