Reports: Bayern Munich legend could replace Uli Hoeness in 2019

Former Germany national team goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has emerged as a favourite to replace Uli Hoeness as Bayern Munich president. In 2019 there will be new presidential elections for this post. Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthäus says Kahn can ideally fit in this post. "He (Kahn) is a face of Bayern Munich, carries the club's DNA within him and is a connoisseur of football," Matthäus told BILD (via Firstsport). "He was always ambitious and has continued to educate himself, even in financial matters. I trust him to lead Bayern in the future," he added. Hoeness recently said he would have left his position, if there was an appropriate candidate. “If I knew who could replace me, I would stop next year” Hoeness told BILD.
