Report: Gareth Bale could inadvertantly help Tottenham sign £44m star

Tottenham could have more chances to sign Real Madrid defender Eder Militao thanks to Gareth Bale and Brexit, according to Marca. The Spurs boss Jose Mourinho reportedly contacted Catalan giants about the 22-year-old's transfer deal. Militao moved to the Spanish club for £44 million less than a year ago. Since his arrival the young defender has found his playing time limited, with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane forming the defence. He has made just seven La Liga starts with Zinedine Zidane's side this season. However, it's not only the lack of game that will lead the Brazilian starlet leave the club. Marca has revealed that Real Madrid are only able to name three non-EU players in their 25-man squad next season. Brazilian wonderkids Rodrygo, Vinicius and Reinier have already become key players for the La Liga giants and are likely to be the possible candidates for the trio. Meanwhile, there is also Gareth Bale, who will be considered as a non-EU player in a post-Brexit era and is still likely to stay at Santiago Bernabeu. With Militao, being an the odd man out of the squad, the Spurs could be handed a boost on their way of signing the defender. Source: HITC
