Manchester City star Raheem Sterling is set to be named as England's captain in their Nations League semi-final with Holland, according to his PR agency.
Sterling is a key member of Gareth Southgate's 'leadership group' and will make his 50th appearance for the Three Lions on Thursday night.
Striker Kane and midfielder Henderson were both involved in the Champions League final on Saturday - with Henderson's Liverpool beating Kane's Tottenham 2-0. If Sterling leads the side that would suggest first choice captain Harry Kane and back-up Jordan Henderson will be rested against Portugal.
Sterling is expected to face the media on Wednesday with Southgate.
