Press Conference: Lampard confirms Rudiger is back, but two players out, speaks about Lille and bad run of form

Chelsea head to Tuesday night’s Champions League meeting with Lille knowing that victory is required in order to reach the last-16 stage. Lille, after failing to win an of their five matches, make a trip to Stamford Bridge having already finished in bottom spot in Group H. Ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard faced the press. Chelsea received an injury boost, as Antonio Rudiger is back after recovering from a groin injury. “He is in the squad. It is good to have him back. Potentially difficult. But we have given him a lot of work. He has come through that and he looks fit and ready to go, I know he is hungry. He is a good defender, you miss those individuals. And then see what he can bring for us,” said Lampard, however, he added, two other players will miss the clash, “ Tomori is out, he has had a bit of a hip issue. Olivier is out as well.” Chelsea have failed to record a win at home in this group stage: “I am aware of that. I think it would be a good achievement. It is a tough group, we have had some difficulties. There is work to be done. We have wanted more in our home games. When you score early in the game it changes the face of the game. When you play well but don’t score you add the pressure yourselves.” The Blues beat Aston Villa on Wednesday, however, they suffered defeat at Everton in their latest game (3-1). “It was always going to come. The way we are, the nature of the Premier League. It was never going to be plain sailing. This is a test,” Lampard said on a bad run of form. “A tight turnaround, but that is the nature of the season. There is work you can do and work out there. I am pleased we’re playing.” Lampard admits the game against Lille is the biggest of the season so far: “Of course, it is a big game, it is a knockout game. I think the players are okay physically. It’s not easy with a lot of games. They are fit boys. We do everything we can around them. We have to keep fighting. They are crucial for the players. I was fortunate to have big moments like this for the club. I like that this is a knockout, we are going to be at our best.” Source- Football.london
