Press Conference: Brendan Rodgers on Jamie Vardy injury, Jannik Vestergaard transfer and more

Leicester City are set to face Brentford in the fourth round of FA Cup on Saturday. And ahead of the clash head coach Brendan Rodgers has met with the press and has talked about team talisman Jamie Vardy's injury, reported transfer target Jannik Vestergaard, the team selected for the clash and more. Talking about Jamie Vardy and Papy Mendy injuries, Rodgers said: "He’s (Jamie Vardy) not available for the weekend. There will be a question mark for Tuesday. It’s not his hamstring. We’re hopeful for Tuesday. There’s a little bit of work to do. "Mendy is out for four to six weeks, so that’s unfortunate for him. "It’s Vardy’s glute. He’ll get some work in. He’s much better than directly after the game, when he was sore, and struggling to move. Today he is much better." When asked about Perez being as a striker, Foxes boss said: "And Harvey as well. That was the idea of looking at that against Wigan. Ayo is comfortable when he comes inside. He can play in that position." He also answered when asked about signing s new striker because of Vardy's injury: "We’ll monitor it. It looks like it’s one that he won’t be out for a long period, so we won’t have that need. "If it was anything longer. But currently, no." Rodgers also talked about reported transfer target Jannik Vestergaard: "There’s lots of players who have been mentioned over the past few months. We’re looking at options to strengthen the squad, and centre-half is one of them. "We want to get Benkovic out on loan, but we need to ensure we still have cover. We won’t speak of names though. "The market can be difficult. You might not see much going on until the last few days. We don’t want to stockpile players. Going forward, we may look at some loans to support." When asked about Brentford and team selection, Rodgers replied: "I’m looking forward to going because it’s their last year at Griffin Park before they move. I used to go there with Chelsea reserves, so I’m looking forward to going back. "The key is coming into the game and picking a team that can bring intensity and energy. We have a very important game on Tuesday. "We will have a team that is very energetic and that we feel can win the game." Source- Leicestershire Live
