Premier League clubs could left without NEW transfers after government support to defer PAYE payments

Premier League and Championship clubs could be stopped from buying new players for the upcoming transfer window, the Telegraph reports.  After some clubs have taken up an option with HMRC to defer their PAYE (Pay as You Earn) payments, they could face massive fines when making new signings.  What is PAYE (Pay as You Earn) payment? It is a method which allows businesses to pay their income taxes.  The source has told The Telegraph: “If clubs have not paid their deferred money back, then it is very unlikely they will be able to buy any players in the next window without facing a heavy penalty.” With the season continuing on pause, many clubs are already linked with big summer moves. Liverpool linked with Timo Werner, Manchester United with Jadon Sancho, Newcastle new owners preparing £200 mln for new moves.  Some clubs, especially from Championship, are facing a tough period. New signings are now uncertain, considering the huge amount of fines they would be forced to pay.
