The Players Liverpool should not have let go

Liverpool are now in the first spot of the Premier League table and they have a six-point advantage over Tottenham and a seven-point gap to Champions Manchester City. The Reds, as one of the great football clubs in the Premier League and in the world, have had a number of magnificent players all over the year. Liverpool signed many players, however, there are some players whom the club regret selling. These players had the potential to offer much more, and they have made their mark at Anfield. Here are 4 players whom Liverpool regret to have sold. Luis Suarez Luis Suarez, who is certainly one of the best number 9 players in the world right now, joined Liverpool in January transfer window of 2011 on deadline day from Ajax. The Uruguayan international managed 82 goals in 133 appearances and has won the Premier League Golden Boot and The Premier League player of the season in the 2013/14. Suarez moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and his loss from the Liverpool squad cost Brendan Rogers his job.  In the Catalan club, Suarez has made 219 appearances so far, has scored 163 goals and provided 88 assists. Javier Mascherano Javier Mascherano joined Liverpool in 2007 from West Ham United. In his 3 seasons with the Reds, Mascherano made 139 appearances for the club, scored 2 goals and provided 7 assists. A defensive midfielder was excellent, and the time he played for Liverpool was the best years for the club since last season. However, in 2010, Mascherano informed new Liverpool manager Roy Hodson that he wanted to leave the club and in August, he left for Barcelona. Since then the Reds have struggled to find solidity and quality in their midfield.  Currently, the 33-year-old Mascherano playing for Chinese club Hebei China Fortune and still extremely skilled at reading the play. Xabi Alonso Xabi Alonso, who arrived at Liverpool in 2005, has been a world-class player during his entire career. The Spaniard helped Liverpool to win the UEFA Champions League trophy in that season, FA Cup in 2016 and then the Community Shield. Alonso left Liverpool in 2009 for Real Madrid after his side reaching the Champions League final in 2007 and finished second in the Premier League in 2008-09. Since then the Reds have struggled to find an apt replacement for Alonso, and his supposed replacement Alberto Aquilani never had the same quality and had recurring injury problems. Phillippe Coutinho Liverpool agreed a £8.5 million transfer fee with Inter Milan for Coutinho. The Brazilian played 6 seasons with the Merseyside club. Coutinho made 201 appearances for Liverpool, scored 54 goals and provided 45 assists. However, one year ago, in January, Liverpool confirmed they had reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Coutinho. Coutinho is yet to make a full season appearance for the Barcelona, but he has managed to play 44 games, has scored 15 goals and provided 10 assists so far.
