Phil Foden responds to Pep Guardiola's words after Brentford win

Phil Foden has admitted that he had to take Pep Guardiola's warnings to focus on board after making his goal-scoring return to the Manchester City's lineup. City ended 2021 with a 10th consecutive victory after a hard-fought win at Brentford which has seen them go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. Following his return to the side, Foden has said how important it is he doesn't let his focus slip.

"Yeah definitely," Foden said when asked by Amazon if he had to take Guardiola's message of focus on board.   "Around the Christmas time you can't really take your foot off the gas. You have to keep going and remain focused.   "This team's doing that at the moment and you can see that we're getting maximum points and that's really good to see."
