Phil Foden reacts to Manchester City vs Atalanta red card

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has responded to the first red card of his career, saying it was not how he wanted the game to end after the Champions League 5 -1 defeat over Atalanta. The youngster has played just 11 minutes during the two appearances he had this season. Playing in the Champions League clash against Atalanta, he has shown an impressive game, proving why fans were so eager to see him on action. The Citizens could win Atalanta, netting 5 times by Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero as a comeback to the Italian club's goal. However they had to play the final 10 minutes of the game without Foden. The latter was sent off the game after dragging Marten de Roon outside the box on 82 minutes. Commenting on the case, he posted on his Instagram page: "Not how I wanted the game to end personally, but overall very happy with the performance from all of us. Raz [Sterling] is on a roll and the support was top class."
Being asked about Foden's sending off, City boss Guardiola said after the game: "With Phil, the important thing is not the red card but the way he played. What an incredible player he is. He will know that he has to be a bit more clever when he has the yellow. People say he needs minutes but there are things where he is far away from David [Silva], [Ilkay] Gundogan and Kevin [De Bruyne]."
