Peter Schmeichel claims Tottenham players were scared by Jose Mourinho vs Manchester United

Peter Schmeichel has insisted Jose Mourinho may have "scared" his Tottenham players about facing Manchester Untied at Old Trafford. The Spurs boss had his first defeat since appointment, as Marcus Rashford scored the two goals for the Red Devils, securing three league points for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side. After the game, Mourinho revealed that in spite of his warnings, his players couldn't cope with United's pressing game. Schmeichel admitted Mourinho may have "scared" his players by challenging them to play against the Red Devils in their minds. He told: "I think he said it there himself. He said 'I told them about Old Trafford' and I kind of think that in a way he might have scared his team," Schmeichel told Amazon Prime after Mourinho's post-match interview. This occasion was so big for him to step into because nobody would have ever thought that Jose Mourinho would have been the Tottenham manager. He has walked into this job and been more humble. If there is one thing he has wanted this season it has been to come to Old Trafford and win this game. I just think he might have put too much fear into his team." The 2 - 1 win over Tottenham gave United the 6th place in the Premier League table. They will be on the action for Manchester derby on Saturday.
