Pep Guardiola reveals Manchester City players’ reaction to heartbreaking defeat by Tottenham

Manchester City have the chance to avenge their Champions League exit to Tottenham in midweek as the pair clash once more this Saturday in the Premier League. The Blues won the match against Spurs, however, Mauricio Pochettino’s side reached the semi-finals on away goals after 4-4 aggregate draw. Fernando Llorente’s controversial goal and Raheem Sterling’s goal, that was cruelly disallowed after VAR consolation made a night to forget for Pep Guardiola and his players. “We have five games left – the Premier League and the FA Cup – and another game against Spurs,” said Guardiola. “So we will see. I think it will be another intense game. If you believe that Wednesday’s result doesn’t hurt or that we can just forget it, I will say 'no'. That is not the truth – we are human beings. We have to live with it and we have to compete with feeling. What we lived on Wednesday, in terms of emotions, was incredible. We are fortunate to have lived it. For a matter of seconds, thousands of people enjoyed a moment - and then everybody was devastated. People cannot expect that it’s over. It will remain in our hearts. It’s a pity, but the performance was incredible in that stage, at that level. I don’t want to see my players saying it doesn’t matter. I want to see them react to the hurt. We will try to play our game at 12:30 here at the Etihad Stadium.” Second-place Citizens are targeting a 10th straight Premier League victory as they seek to overtake leaders Liverpool, while third-placed Tottenham are aiming for a third successive top-flight win as they bid to stay in the top four. The game will take place on Saturday, April 20 at Etihad.
