Pep Guardiola provides worrying Manchester City team news ahead of Liverpool clash

Pep Guardiola has criticized FIFA in his latest interview about the games' schedule which could see a number of Manchester City players missing the upcoming meeting with Liverpool.

The Citizens will be in action for the EFL Cup Round of 16 clash versus Jurgen Klopp's team before Christmas, on December 22.

City players, who were on international duty with their sides, are yet to return to City, while the attacker Julian Alvarez is still in the World Cup run with Argentina.

"At the moment, we have four or five players, and we will have to wait and see how the others come back," Guardiola told Manchester City's website following the club's friendly match against Girona.

"But we just don’t have players because the big brains of football decided this schedule and we are going to play this game [against Liverpool].

"Some players are coming back now and in the next few days and step by step, they will re-join their teammates here.

"People are coming back soon. Nathan (Ake), Aymer (Laporte), and Rodri, and later the players from the England and Portugal teams."
