Pep Guardiola explains why he replaced Phil Foden during RB Leipzig clash

Pep Guardiola has revealed that his decision to substitute Phil Foden came after the attacker felt pain in his ankle in the club's Champions League match against RB Leipzig. The Citizens were defeated 2 - 1 last night, though they have already secured their place in the next stage of the European top tier. Foden as well as Nathan Ake were replaced during the clash, so Guardiola explained his decision. “Nathan has a problem in his back. We will see tomorrow," he said. “Phil had problems in the beginning of the game in his ankle, [he] struggled a little bit. As a precaution I decided to, in his position, play Raheem.” When speaking about the team's performance against the German rivals, the manager added: “We played better in the second half. We were more aggressive, we played to win the game and we lost it. Congratulations to Leipzig. “The first half we lacked a little bit of rhythm. They have a really good team, we knew that from before the group stage. The second half was much better, but unfortunately one or two mistakes and they punished us.”
