Manchester City Pep Guardiola has confirmed his side could be without midfielder David Silva for his side’s clash with Liverpool this Sunday.
Following City’s 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday, Guardiola revealed the 33-year-old had suffered a muscle injury during the first half.
When asked if Silva would be available against Liverpool, Guardiola said:
"I don’t think so. I didn’t speak with the doctor, but when he has a muscular problem and cannot play more minutes, it’s because he has something. When it’s a muscular problem, it’s always a minimum of 10 to 12 days. Five minutes before the first half ended, he told me he had a muscular problem."
The two sides prepare to meet this week, on November 10.
Liverpool are currently leading the table with 31 points, while Manchester City are second with 25.
