Paul Merson sends Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp transfer warning about Tottenham

Paul Merson has issued a transfer warning to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after seeing Mauricio Pochettino dwindle at Tottenham. The Reds will struggle to know where to strengthen this summer after they won Premier League. However, Arsenal legend Merson insists that they need to splash the cash in the upcoming transfer window to keep things fresh. Casting back to Pochettino’s downfall at Spurs, the Sky Sports pundit reckons they could end up suffering a similar fate if they don’t spend. "I think Liverpool need to buy, but it's hard to know exactly where," Merson said. "Spurs had a similar situation under Pochettino a couple years ago. They had such a good XI, that anyone they bought wasn't likely to play much. "You can't live like that, you have to keep competition and keep rotation. There's a fast food chain that sell more burgers or chips than anyone else, but they spend more on advertising than anyone else. You've got to kick on. I found that with Spurs, they never really took a chance, and it has come back to bite them." Liverpool have already lost two long-term servants to the club in Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren, Young Curtis Jones is expected to fill Lallana’s boots as a back-up to the midfield, and has already been handed the No. 17 shirt.
