"Now time for something new"- Alfie Devine's first words after joining Tottenham from Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic youngster Alfie Devine has made a move to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday afternoon. The 15-year-old midfielder, who has been on the books of Premier League champions Liverpool in the past, has joined the club's academy ahead of the start of the 2020/21 season. Devine is one of many scholars to have been signed by Spurs as they look to stock up the academy with red hot talent. The youngster, who only signed a long-term deal with the Lancashire club weeks before they entered administration, has now spoken of his delight at sealing a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. On Instagram, Devine posted: "Thanks to all the players and staff and Wigan for the past 3 years. An amazing club with amazing fans, now time for something new and delighted to have signed for @spursofficial."

Speaking on the qualities Devine will bring to Spurs' academy, Under-18s coach Matt Taylor told Spurs' club website: “Alfie comes to us hungry to develop and make progress, just like the 10 young men who have moved up from our Under-16s this year.  “It’s an exciting time for these players as they start this new chapter in their lives as full-time employees of the football club and begin to understand what’s expected of them, taking on board the DNA of Tottenham Hotspur. "Now it’s about listening, learning and working as diligently as they possibly can under the circumstances, while we continue to follow the Premier League protocols around returning to training. "There’s a really positive mood around the place at the moment and we’re all looking forward to the start of the new season.” Source- football.london
