Novak Djokovic gives coy answer about French Open controversy after Dominic Thiem defeat

Photo/Evening Standard Novak Djokovic has given a misleading response to questions regarding the decision to postpone his match against Dominic Thiem on Friday evening. Djokovic's semi-final with Thiem was held over until Saturday with the Austrian leading 3-1 in the third set after French Open officials called an end to play amid fears of rain. Thiem took the third set and though Djokovic levelled, the fourth seed held his nerve, eventually, to clinch a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 victory. Speaking after his five-set defeat to Thiem, the Serb was crushed by the media about what exactly happened. Question: “You battled hard. Before we talk about today, play was suspended yesterday. Could you give us your version of accounts and what time you left the grounds yesterday, please? Djokovic: “I don't know what time I left. I left when they canceled the match for the day.” Question: Were you happy last night that the match was suspended, or do you think it should have continued? What exact reason did organizers give you for the suspension? Djokovic: “I don't know. You can ask them. I don't know.” Question: But what did they tell you? Djokovic: “I don't know. You can ask them.”
