Nine loan stars Chelsea may have to call upon after transfer ban is upheld

Philippe Coutinho, Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale: these players were considered as possible transfer targets for Chelsea, however, the Blues will not be able to sign anyone. According to the Blues boss, it will “not be easy” to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City next season, after an unsuccessful appeal against FIFA’s transfer ban. The Blues are banned from signing players during the next two transfer windows until the end of January 2020. The only change to the original Fifa ban is that the Blues can sign under-16 players from the UK during the suspension period. Chelsea's fine of £460,000 by world football's governing body also remains. It followed the investigation into their signing of foreign under-18 players. Chelsea will now appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. However, it is unlikely, that they will accept Chelsea’s appeal. Everything is not bad for the Blues, because they have a number of high-profile players out on loan that they can all on. They also have dozens of youth players out on loan. "Every month I have a report on every player on loan; we have about 45," Sarri said. "There are two or three players who have been out on loan this season who are interesting. I do not want to name names now. But the level they have been playing at must be considered." Chelsea will now have to do everything within their power to lock down the clubs best players including Eden Hazard amid interest from Real Madrid but also they will need to call on loan players. Here are nine players Chelsea may have to call upon. Reece James Reece James, 19, has been out on loan at Wigan. The right-back headed back to Cobham this week following his stunning season with Paul Patrick’s side. James enjoyed a brilliant campaign at the DW Stadium, playing 44 times in the Championship. He scored three goals and created three assists. The right-back finished the season in midfield and with the captain’s armband. James, who has already shown first team potential, will be a perfect replacement for 29-year-old Cesar Azpilicueta. Ola Aina Ola Aina has been on loan at Torino and his loan-deal will come to an end after the current season. The full-back has made 30 appearances for the Italian outfit, has scored a goal and created two assists. Aina is versatile, strong and mobile. He has a solid balance of offensive and defensive traits and appears closer to being Premier League ready. Chelsea have problems in the position of Aina and he could be a valuable asset for the Blues. The 22-year-old n a recent interview suggested he would favour a permanent move there but Chelsea’s circumstances could see him return as a wing-back option. Tiemoue Bakayoko Bakayoko has been sent out on loan last year and has made 39 appearances for AC Milan; he has scored a goal and created an assist. He has demonstrated a fairly all-around profile, with a good combination of dribbling and ball-winning. The midfielder struggled under Antonio Conte, but he could be a perfect addition for Maurizio Sarri’s squad. Bakayoko, 24, could prove the strength in depth Chelsea lack, but it does appear highly unlikely that he will be allowed to return. Kurt Zouma Everton keen on to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent basis after amazing loan spell but now Zouma likely to join Chelsea’s pre-season squad. Zouma has made 35 appearances for Everton, has scored two goals and created two assists. Chelsea need someone to come in and bring a breath of fresh air to their defence, and Zouma is that man. The Blues supporters seem pleased that the Frenchman could return to his parent club and help them in the Champions League. Michy Batshuayi Batshuayi has been loaned to Valencia and Crystal Palace this season. At Crystal Palace, he has scored three goals and now Roy Hodgson is looking to sign him permanently for a £30m deal. Batshuayi scored 19 goals in his 18 months at Chelsea. Batshuayi is experienced and could help the Blues, however, it is more likely he will be sent out on loan again or sold. Mason Mount Mount, who is currently on loan at Frank Lampard’s Derby County has been called into the England squad for their UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain back in October. The 20-year-old scored ten goals and created five assists for Derby this season. Mount, who is versatile, played as a left-sided central midfielder for Lampard’s side. The England international can take Kovacic’s place in the squad alongside Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Tammy Abraham Abraham scored 25 Championship goals for Aston Villa and will end the season as third top-goalscorer of the tournament. The 21-year-old was named in the PFA divisional team of the year. Abraham could be perfect player as a replacement for Alvaro Morata. Chelsea fans would love him to be given a chance in their own colours. Trevoh Chalobah Chalobah, 19, is a physically imposing player for Ipswich Town. The English player isn’t the most creative and will not score many goals, but he’s a fairly proficient dribbler. Chalobah could add versatility to cover a number of roles and he’s already returned to the parent club. Fikayo Tomori Tomori has been on loan season at Derby County as Mason Mount and he has become a key player of their defence. The 21-year-old made 2517 passes this season at an 83 per cent success rate. He won the club’s Player of the Season award. Derby would like to secure his services for next season but Chelsea could be brought back to shine for the Blues.
