Martin O'Neill makes bold claim about Leicester City top four battle

Former Leicester City manager Martin O’Neill believes the Foxes will still end up in the top four despite the club’s recent dismal form. Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled since the Premier League’s resumption - winning just one out of their last seven matches. The Foxes were beaten 4-1 despite being a goal ahead at struggling Bournemouth on Sunday. Despite still being fourth, they are now just a point above Manchester United, who have a game in-hand on their top-four rivals. O’Neill, who managed the club from 1995 until 2000, believes that despite the turn in form, his former club will still reach the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League. Asked if Leicester can still qualify for the major European competition, the Northern Irishman said: "Yeah. Before the restart, you would’ve said that the gap in terms of points, which can disappear overnight, put them in a really strong position. "But losing to Bournemouth was a really big disappointment. Losing the centre-back for the last few games is a big blow. They can overcome these blows. They can still make it. It will be really exciting to see who clinches those spots.” Leicester's upcoming clash is against Sheffield United on Thursday. Source- LeicestershireLive
