Mark Clattenburg speaks out on Fernando Llorente’s goal decision

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg says his Turkish colleague Cuneyt Cakir was right not to disallow Tottenham forward Fernando Llorente’s crucial goal during the second leg of Champions League quarterfinals second leg against Manchester City. Spaniard scored the decisive goal, when City was leading 4-2 and had the advantage in tie. Clattenburg has written for Daily Mail: “The use of VAR in checking and then allowing Fernando Llorente's goal was a fantastic example of the system at its best - and the right decision was made. Clattenburg explained that the even if there was a contact of ball with Llorente’s arm, it didn’t impact the overall situation. In other words, the touch of the ball didn’t help the forward score the goal. Tottenham will face Ajax in Champions League semi-finals. First leg is scheduled at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 30 April.
