Manchester United’s 12 injury concerns ahead of Liverpool clash

Premier League continues this week as the international break is over, and the most important fixture of the ninth match week is set to be Manchester United versus Liverpool on Sunday. Ahead of the showdown with the Reds, Manchester Evening News made a list of United’s injured players David de Gea: The Red Devils’ goalkeeper is set to miss the upcoming clash with Liverpool as he was limped off during Spain 1-1 Sweden Euro qualifier on Tuesday. He struggled the abductor muscle problem, and healing the region like that can take from 10 days to 4 weeks. Solskjaer will provide official information on that at the pre-match press conference on Friday. Victor Lindelof: The centre-back missed United’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle due to a back problem, then he withdrew Sweden’s match against Malta, but played 90 minutes in the latest Sweden against Spain fixture. Currently, he is back to full fitness and will be able to play against Liverpool. Aaron Wan-Bissaka: Wan-Bissaka missed the matches against Arsenal, AZ Alkmaar and Newcastle due to nasty bout of tonsillitis.  The right-back wasn’t picked up to join the England squad but is expected to be back to star against the Reds. Paul Pogba: Although there have been contradictory reports on Pogba’s condition, United confirmed that the Frenchman needed time to rest and recover on the ankle problem he suffered since August. His presence on the game is in doubt, and everyone is waiting for Solskjaer’s official update. Anthony Martial: United’s winger was seen arriving at training this week following a thigh strain that took a little bit longer time for treatment than expected. And this time again, His return needs to be confirmed by Solskjaer. Luke Shaw: Shaw is now back to training after suffering from a hamstring injury early in the season, during 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace and now fights for time to play on Sunday. Mason Greenwood: The 18-year-old forward was limped off with a back problem during England’s Under 21s international break, but it doesn’t seem to be serious and he can be available to face Liverpool. Jesse Lingard: United’s right-winger was a victim of the artificial surface used in the Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar and limped off with a hamstring injury. Before the international break, United’s boss said that he “will be ready for Liverpool”. Others: Phil Jones suffered an injury at half-time in the Carabao Cup clash against Rochdale and hasn't been back since. Timothy Fosu-Mensah returned to full training as he recovered from an ACL injury that needed surgery. Diogo Dalot substituted in the fixture against Newcastle, having previously struggled with a hip injury. Eric Bailly is a long-term absentee with a medial ligament knee injury. Only Dalot seems to have a chance of being included in the United’s matchday squad for Liverpool.
