Manchester United to offer young defender a contract extension

Manchester United have reportedly triggered the option to extend young defender Luca Ercolani's deal for another year. The 20-year-old will now stay at Old Trafford until at least June 2021 after another impressive season in the youth team. The entre-back has established himself as a key player with United at Under-21 level ever since he joined the club from Italian side Forli in early 2016. Ercolani has missed the majority of the season with injury and now becomes the latest United youngster to commit their future to the club after teammate Max Taylor signed a new one-year deal last week. They both have featured for United in the Premier League 2 this season with the club three points off the top of the table with a game in hand prior to football's postponement back in March. The Under-23 league was officially halted due to the coronavirus crisis, with United in second place - chasing promotion - behind West Ham. The Premier League are yet to officially decide on final standings, including promotion and relegation. Source- MEN
