Manchester United have rejected a bid from Roma for Chris Smalling, who is currently on loan at the Italian club.
Smalling was allowed to leave United on a loan deal after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford and the Serie A outfit are through to be keen on signing the centre-back on a permanent basis.
Daily Star report the Red Devils have rejected a £13m bid from Roma to buy Smalling outright.
United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, is thought to be holding out for closer to £17m.
