Manchester United organised a private jet to fly in Deadline Day signing-but were forced to cancel it

Manchester United organised a private jet to fly Diego Godin to Old Trafford on Deadline Day, as revealed by Chief Football Writer for the Sunday Mirror Simon Mullock. However, the Red Devils were forced to cancel it after the deal broke down. The process involved triggering the 32-year-old's £18million buy-out clause, which the Red Devils did. But the transfer didn't go through. Instead Godin let United know that his club Atletico Madrid had responded to their bid by offering him a new contract, which would see him extend his stay in the Spanish capital by two years and earn £130,000-a-week.
