Manchester City V Southampton: Preview and Possible XI

Premier League: Matchweek 11
  • Venue: Etihad Stadium
  • Date: Sunday, November 4
  • Kick-off time: 19:00 PM
Manchester City return to Premier League action on Sunday with the visit of Southampton.  Leaders are aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign. TEAM: Ilkay Gundogan (hamstring) remains doubtful. The Germany midfielder limped off against Hoffenheim in our 2-1 Champions League victory. Danilo (ankle) is also likely to be absent, having sustained a knock on international duty. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is a long-term absentee, having sustained an Achilles tendon injury. The Chilean 'keeper underwent scans, which confirmed a rupture in the tendon of his left foot. Charlie Austin (shoulder) and Pierre Hojbjerg (illness) will face late fitness tests. FACTS: Manchester City have won seven of they're last nine Premier League meetings with Southampton, drawing one and losing one. Both of Man City’s PL victories over Southampton last season came courtesy of added-time winners. Raheem Sterling scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the home match and Gabriel Jesus struck in the fourth minute of time added on in the final match of the season at St Mary's Stadium. City are aiming to keep a clean sheet in a seventh consecutive league match for the first time in their history. Ederson, who has kept a clean sheet in his last six PL starts, can become the first goalkeeper to make it seven in a row since Edwin van der Sar achieved a run of 14 for Manchester United in 2008/09. POSSIBLE LINE-UP:
  • Referee: Lee Mason
  • Assistants: Marc Perry, Neil Davies
  • Fourth official: Chris Kavanagh
