Liverpool start's World Cup hopes are in the balance, David Ornstein reports

Liverpool have a fear that Diogo Jota's injury could be more serious than expected.

According to David Ornstein, the Portugal international will have a scan on his calf problem today to determine the extent of the damage.

The 25-year-old has picked up an injury during Liverpool's 1-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, October 16.

Jota, who left the pitch on a stretcher, is scheduled to undergo further assessment today and the hopes of him being on Fernando Santos' World Cup squad in Qatar are in doubt.
