Liverpool see bid for defender rejected but are told an extra £1.8m will see them get their man

Liverpool have seen their initial bid of £9m rejected for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi, though being learned the £10.8m bid will be enough to secure the player's transfer, according to a report in the Daily Mirror. Reds are willing to improve the squad and strengthen the defence, following Dejan Lovren's departure from Anfield. Jurgen Klopp's side have considered Mandi as one of the possible targets for the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old defender has just one year left on his contract with the Spanish side. Though he has a €30m (£28 million) release clause in his contract, La Liga club are believed to reduce the transfer fee for the player. And now, the report claims Real Betis are likely to sell Mandi for £10.8m amid the transfer interest from Liverpool.
