Liverpool prepare for controversial referee that left them fuming against Manchester City

Liverpool will face Manchester City this evening as Premier League Champions, but they may have to deal with one figure who has been controversial in the past. The Reds declared league champions, after earning 23-point lead with seven fixtures left to play. Pep Guardiola has already confirmed that he and his players will give Liverpool a guard of honour. The game has no major importance but Jurgen Klopp will still be keen to win. Ahead of the match, Liverpool fans left fuming after it's being confirmed that Anthony Taylor will be the referee of the game. Taylor was born in Wythenshawe in Greater Manchester and has previously taken charge of Reds matches against both clubs from his home region. He was in charge during Liverpool’s last match at the Etihad, which ended in a 2-1 defeat to City and ultimately played a key part in the title race which went the way of Guardiola’s side. The 41-year-old also took charge of Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United in 2016, which provoked debate among supporters. Source: LiverpoolECHO
