Liverpool open talks for £20m Virgil van Dijk injury replacement

Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Schalke in an attempt to sign Ozan Kabak in the January transfer window after the Reds star Virgil van Dijk suffered an ACL injury. Van Dijk suffered the injury in a 2-2 draw with Everton. The Reds star will soon undergo surgery, but it has been suggested that he is extremely unlikely to play again this season. According to the Sunday Mirror, the Reds have opened talks with Schalke over a move for Kabak. The report says that Liverpool are ready to pay £20million upfront to sign the youngster. Schalke are hoping for closer to £30m, but the report states that Jurgen Klopp's side are prepared to include instalments to make up the remaining cost. Kabak has been linked with a move to Liverpool over the summer, however, the move didn't happen.
