Liverpool handed Champions League final boost by UEFA decision

Tottenham and Liverpool both completed remarkable comebacks in the last four to earn the right to contest the 2019 Champions League final at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Saturday, June 1. The psychological edge belongs to the Reds after they beat Spurs twice in the Premier League. A scoreline of 2-1 on both occasions, at Wembley Stadium back in September and at Anfield in March, reflected how little there is to choose between the two familiar foes. Liverpool were nominated as the away team but they will now have the dressing room usually by Atletico. The home dressing room in the stadium is considerably bigger and plusher than the one that hosts visiting teams. https://twitter.com/bghayward/status/1127920509331673088 “Before we took our decision, we made an evaluation between the away fans, the Spanish police and the city of Madrid,” Wanda Metropolitano Stadium manager Fernando Fariza told Sky Sports News. “We took into account the number of fans of both of the finalists, the metro lines and the fan meeting points in the city. Taking into account all these issues, the final decision was that Liverpool fans should arrive at the south stand and they will have all their tickets in the south stand. On the other hand, Tottenham supporters will arrive at the north stand and they will have all their tickets in the north stand.” The capacity of the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium for the final has been set at 63,000 by UEFA. Liverpool and Tottenham have been allocated just 16,613 tickets each.
