Lewis Hamilton compares 2021 F1 rule changes to Brexit

Five-time world Champion, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has compared the 2021 regulation changes to Brexit. The Briton thinks not one person able to say for sure whether the situation will benefit Formula 1 or not. The rules changing is meant to try and help the smaller teams bridge the gap between themselves and the bigger teams to try and make F1 a more competitive competition. The deadline for the sign-off for the 2021 season has been pushed back to the latter stages of October. Hamilton is not convinced F1 can use fan-favourite characteristics: "Probably not, it's highly unlikely. If you look at all the car manufacturers, the way they're progressing, it's all about technology and evolution. So we're not going backwards. "I don't even know if that's a good thing anyway, going backwards. There are some elements that we can extract more out of this sport to make it better, and that's what everyone is working on." The Mercedes driver has compared it to Great Britain leaving the European Union. "The most interesting time that's coming is 2021 and whether they got it right or wrong," Hamilton added. "It's a bit like the whole Brexit thing, or the thing going on in the States. Who knows if it will go right or wrong. We'll just find out when we get there."
