Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes make crucial Max Verstappen breakthrough in contract talks

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes are nearing an agreement over a new deal for the British driver. The new contract reportedly includes Max Verstappen clause. Seven-time World Champion Hamilton is currently out of contract as he is yet to sign a new deal with the Silver Arrows. The details of his contract saga are coming to light. One of the clauses of the new deal will allow Hamilton to pick his team-mates. And it was named as the "Max Verstappen Clause". According to F1 Insider via GP Blog, Hamilton will sign a one-year deal with Mercedes with an option for another year. The deal includes a £40million salary but also includes two personal sponsorship placings on his helmet and overall. The clause, which relates to Verstappen, allows the Brit to actually select who his team-mate is. It remains to be seen how this would impact Valtteri Bottas.
