Leicester City injury list ahead of West Ham United clash

Leicester City return to action on Wednesday as they are set to face West Ham United. Brendan Rodger's side will be looking to bounce back from their back-to-back defeats against Southampton and Burnley. Ahead of the game here are the injury list currently affecting the Leicester squad. Wilfred Ndidi is sidelined due to a knee injury and is expected to return in two weeks. Speaking on the midfielder's fitness Rodgers said: “He’s back out on the pitches now which is great news for us. The importance of him is huge for this team. “He’s recovering very well. He’s worked with medics. He’s been out on the field the last few days so we’ll see how he is. “I think it will be too soon for him to be back for Wednesday’s game [at home to West Ham] but certainly by the weekend [at Brentford in the FA Cup] and I would say for Aston Villa, hopefully, he’ll be available.” Bartosz Kapustka is also ruled out through a knee injury, as he tore knee ligaments while on loan at Leicester's sister club OH Leuven in Belgium at the end of March. He had to undergo surgery, and missed the European Under-21 Championships in Italy and San Marino over summer. Since returning to Leicester, Kapustka has been working his way back to fitness. He has played for the under-23s and trained with the first team. Speaking on the 23-year-old Foxes boss said: “He’s been very good in training. He’s been excellent, to be fair.

“He’s a young player who broke on the scene for Poland at the Euros in 2016. He did very well. Nobody knew much about him. He came to Leicester, went out on loan, and has been unfortunate with the injury.

“But certainly from what I’ve seen in training, he’s been impressive. He’s worked hard to get back. He’s technically gifted, he’s sharp, he looks like he wants to score a goal.

“He did well in the reserve game he played.”

Matty James is currently out due to Achilles injury and has endured a torrid time with injuries.

The midfielder has returned to full training after a summer operation on his Achilles halted his latest comeback bid. He is set to be back in under-23s action. “It’s gradual, it’s about him getting football fitness," Rodgers said when talking about James. "He’s training very well, but we’re trying to get some minutes in his legs. He felt really good, naturally a bit sore afterwards (under-23 game).” Daniel Amartey is sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained against West Ham last season and lately suffered a setback in his recovery. His return date still remains unknown. “It’s been unfortunate he hasn’t featured for me," said Rodgers. "He recovered from the ankle injury he had, but the likelihood is that he will be in for more surgery. “It’s just a bone in his ankle that needs operating on.” Source- Leicestershire Live
