Latest Harry Kane injury update

Tottenham striker Harry Kane suffered a hamstring injury in Spurs defeat at St Mary's on New Year's Day. Head coach Jose Mourinho was asked about the extent of the injury sustained by the England captain and gave a worrying update on his situation. "Harry Kane plays every minute, he plays all the time. It might be big, it might be small," he said. "For sure he will be out. It is negative...hamstring is always negative. Is it a tear? Is it a small thing, is it a contraction? At this moment I cannot say." Later on his press conference on Friday Mourinho said: "I'm not great on grades. I'm great on experience and feelings, and again I'm not expecting very good news." Spurs official statement on Kane read: "Following assessment today (Friday), we can confirm that Harry Kane suffered a tear in his left hamstring during our New Year's Day fixture against Southampton." Kane missed this weekend in the FA Cup third round tie against Middlesbrough, with Heung-min Son set to return from suspension, while Lucas Moura or teenager Troy Parrott could start up front. Mourinho's side have three more Premier League fixtures in January, including a clash with league leaders Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, January 11, a trip to face Watford a week later and a home game against bottom side Norwich City on Wednesday, January 22. Dependant on the extent of Kane's hamstring injury, he could miss all of those games, while Spurs also face Manchester City at home on Sunday, February 2, and Aston Villa away on Sunday, February 16, before the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with RB Leipzig on Wednesday, February 19. A grade 1 pulled hamstring can take anything from a few days to around three weeks to heal, while a grade 2 or grade 3 tear can take several weeks, or even months, to recover from.
