Kohlschreiber: “I forced Novak Djokovic to play at his best”

Top seed Novak Djokovic started his defence of title by beating Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets as the pair opened up the tournament on Centre Court. The 32-year-old Serb was never in serious trouble during a 6-3 7-5 6-3 win. The German player said: "I think we had very tough sets. I was always first up with the break, which I couldn't hold long enough to make more pressure. “But I think we had great rallies. Overall, he was a very strong opponent today. I think he played his service games very smoothly, and I had to work very hard for my service games. I gave everything, I fought for every ball and I think I forced Novak to play very well.”
