Jurgen Klopp's last press conference ahead of Champions League final: Full Transcript

Photo/Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images English football will descend on Madrid this Saturday as Tottenham Hotspur face rivals Liverpool in the 2019 Champions League final at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano. The Champions League final will be an all-English first time in over a decade. Manchester United triumphed over Chelsea following a dramatic penalty shoot-out in 2008 final. Now Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp will be gunning for the top prize in European football. Ahead of the game, Klopp has faced the press. Asked about on Roberto Firmino’s fitness to start, Klopp answered: “Yes, he's ready. He's fit and he has trained. He should be fine. If he will start? I'll only tell you if Poch gives away his full team!” Klopp dismissed the idea Liverpool are the favourites because of their league position because head to head in the league, the games between the sides were so close. "If I thought Tottenham had an advantage I would be mad. We don't think about it. It's about working for an advantage tomorrow. People will say we're favourites but we won both games 2-1 - the second one with a strange goal,” said Klopp. Jurgen chuckled at the question of if he believes in fate or that a manager can have an unlucky career: "Do you think I have an unlucky career? My career for sure so far was not unlucky. I must be the world record holder for winning semi-finals but if I wrote a book about it probably no-one would buy it!" Klopp was described as a ‘shiny person’. He was confused before being told that means he is considered brilliant as both a person and a manager. "This is a wonderful club and we fell in love with each other,” he said. The first game in Klopp’s time as the Reds manager was against Spurs. It finished in a draw. Asked whether a repeat could happen tomorrow Klopp described it as ‘not logical’. Klopp joked that the only change he would make to the competition is to make the semi-final the final! "If they could make the semi-final the final then I would be completely happy with it!! I don't know what people want to change. I love the competition. The right teams play in it, each team has the same chance to go through,” said the manager.
