Liverpool are set to face Manchester City on Sunday, as the Premier League action resumes.
The Reds picked up a 5-1 win against Porto in the Champions League during the weekend, while City suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of PSG.
Trent Alexander-Arnold missed the weekday's clash due to injury, and got replaced by James Milner.
Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the 35-year-old midfielder will play at the right-back instead of Alexander-Arnold.
"I am not sure he knows what positions he can play!" said the Reds boss. "He's a smart footballer and he likes to be involved.
"He likes CM but our right-backs are influential and you get chances. IF he plays there, he's an important part of the squad. A real engine."
Alexander-Arnold has also been withdrawn from England's squad and will likely return after the international break to face Watford on October 16.
