Jurgen Klopp reveals how he picks Liverpool starting lineup

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he names his starting lineup two days before every game. Currently the Reds are leading the Premier League table with 25-points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who have one game in hand, and are waiting for the season to resume so that they will be able to win the 2019/20 league title. Speaking to Sky Sports, Klopp said : “The players know usually a day before the game, maybe even two days before a game if they’re playing or not. I never did it where I made the lineup in the hotel and show them the first time and they think, ‘Oh interesting, I play’. “So I want them to prepare for it and all that stuff. I treat them individually. That means if a player who played the last 20 games in a row is not playing the next game, it’s not a big problem. “But, I tell them, normally the rotation through the season when we have three games a week and I change it up front, the strikers or in midfield where we change quite a lot, and I don’t explain to the boys. I explain it once before the season or at a specific point at a period in the season and then it’s clear. “You don’t start today, you don’t start the next game, I have to judge the situation always in the moment so I think ‘ok, the last game was too intense for him, he played outstanding but that could still mean he doesn’t play the next game three days later’." However, the Liverpool manager has revealed that his approach to naming the starting lineup doesn't always please everyone. “We have them situations like in the Champions League semi-final last year, second leg, when I realised after the game, or because everyone told me, that Gini Winjnaldum was really angry that he didn’t start,” he laughed. “I didn’t see it in training! “I tell them that’s the most important thing. I tell the boys you don’t have to be happy with my decisions, you only have to accept them and after the game we can talk about it, that’s no problem.” source - Daily Star Join us on Telegram
