Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he hurried up with star player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s return from injury.
The former Arsenal player made a long-waited return from injury in Liverpool Under-23s earlier this month but lasted only 40 minutes before being substituted.
Reflecting on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s comeback, Klopp said: "One of the biggest mistakes I made here was being [publicly] excited about having Ox back.
"That put the focus on the Derby U23s game. Now we will keep him a little bit in the shadows. He will train and when he is ready to be properly back I will inform you – until then I will not speak about Ox!’
Liverpool, currently top of the Premier League, face Tottenham this weekend.
